College Credits

New for 2008!

We have been working very hard on something new that will make a session at WAEL even better. What could be better than spending your summer gaining leadership development, having fun, doing cool activities, meeting new friends, and getting a jump on earning college credit all at the same time!

We are still ironing out the details but it looks like we will now be able to offer college credits for any participant age 15-18 on any of our trips.  The details that we are ironing out are the actual number of credits (3 to 6) and under which category they will be classified; Business (leadership development) and/or Physical Education (hiking, camping, survival).  Most likely it will be a combination of the two.

This will be an optional add-on for those wishing to take advantage of earning college credits.  There will also be an additional cost of $350-$700 depending on the final number of credits you opt for.  The credits will be issued via Virginia Western Community College, which is an accredited member of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SASC), and will be transferable to just about any college or university in the United States.  It is important to understand that not all credits transfer freely between colleges but credits of this type should easily transfer in as electives at a minimum.
