SUMMER ADVENTURE CAMP
We can't wait to welcome you to our diverse summer camp experiences at Wilderness Adventure. Our summer camp caters to campers aged 9 - 17 years old, offering various summer camp options that cater to every adventurer's preference.
Love the water? The "Go With The Flow" program is for you. Love mountain biking? "Mountain Biking 101" or "102" awaits! For those seeking a little bit of everything, our "Classic Adventure", "Classic Expedition", and "Outdoor Discovery" programs provide an epic mix of outdoor activities in the heart of nature.

Our summer camps offer a range of outdoor activities, personal growth opportunities, and leadership development. Campers participate in adventure activities like rock climbing, canoeing, caving, biking, kayaking, and more! Campers are also taught backpacking techniques, plant and animal identification, and outdoor living skills.
At the end of camp, all groups come together for our traditional Friday ceremonies, including our Giant Swing ride, a communal dinner, Closing Campfire, and our famous WA Olympics!
The perfect starter camp for young outdoor explorers
The Outdoor Discovery Summer Camp is tailored for young adventurers aged 9 - 10. Campers stay at base camp to explore our property's beautiful Appalachian Mountains. This introductory camp provides a gentle yet exciting experience, combining outdoor living with thrilling activities such as rock climbing, caving, and canoeing. Campers build foundational outdoor skills, gaining confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
A climbing and caving focused summer camp
Discover the thrill of vertical adventures with Wilderness Adventure's Over & Under Summer Camp, tailored for high school-aged climbing and caving enthusiasts. This fully outdoor experience combines the excitement of rock climbing above ground with exploring Virginia's cave systems below ground. Climb nearly every day in our climbing focused camp
Climb to new heights and conquer vertical challenges at Wilderness Adventure's Rock Climbing Summer Camp. This one-week outdoor experience is perfect for beginners and those seeking to enhance their climbing skills. Campers camp along the trail and spend almost every day scaling rocks. From introductory climbing techniques to tackling top-rope routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.10d, participants will learn and practice various climbing styles.
The ultimate mix of all of our adventure camps
The ultimate outdoor experience starts with our Classic Summer Camps – Classic Adventure (One Week) and Classic Expedition (Two Weeks). Designed for campers aged 11-17, these camps offer an exhilarating blend of adventure activities and backpacking techniques. Whether it's rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, canoeing, or exploring the wilderness, participants delve into a diverse range of activities.

Join us for the ultimate mountain biking adventure with our Mountain Biking Summer Camps. We offer two exciting options: Mountain Biking 101 and Mountain Biking 201. In 101, beginners master basic biking skills while enjoying thrilling rides through scenic trails. For those with prior experience, 201 provides advanced challenges, including downhill riding at skill parks! Choose a single week or combine both for an epic two-week biking journey.
A water based camp for paddle crazy campers
Dive into the ultimate water adventure with our Go With The Flow Summer Camp. This fully outdoor experience is perfect for both beginners and those with introductory canoeing or kayaking skills. Campers navigate Class I-III rapids on the New River while enjoying rock climbing and thrilling experiences like Swift Water Rescue. This two-week journey promises unforgettable water experiences and leadership growth.
A transformative summer camp for future leaders
This immersive leadership journey spans various activities, from backpacking and mountain biking to climbing, caving, and kayaking. Participants delve into leadership styles, group dynamics, and essential outdoor skills. The course encompasses miles of Blue Ridge exploration, offering opportunities to lead peers, manage group dynamics, and navigate the wilderness. The final phase unfolds at the New River Gorge, where the participants apply new skills in climbing, hiking, and thrilling whitewater activities.

Small Group Adventures with Expert Leadership
Camp counselors undergo a 14-day orientation program focusing on camp policies, safety protocols, and group leadership skills. Activity instructors adhere to rigorous industry standards, ensuring the highest level of safety and instruction. All staff members hold current background checks, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR certifications, ensuring a safe and enriching outdoor experience.
Tailored Adventures, Fantastic Leaders
Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing's summer camp programs are committed to providing high-quality outdoor adventures to its participants. Starting with our group sizes, which are capped at a maximum of 12 co-ed participants. Two dedicated leaders, one male and one female, provide continuous supervision 24/7, fostering a supportive environment throughout the adventure.
Each group operates independently on the trail during summer camp, allowing campers to forge strong bonds and navigate challenges together. This unique and intimate approach builds trust, communication, laughter, and leadership skills, creating a memorable journey from start to finish.
For activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and kayaking, each group is trained by an expert in their field. Our team is meticulously chosen from diverse applicants, emphasizing character and passion for outdoor education.

Our 500-acre site in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 40 minutes outside Roanoke, Virginia, offers tailored sleepaway camp programs for all ages. Summer camp activities include rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, canoeing, outdoor living, woodcraft, whitewater rafting, low and high ropes courses, and more!
Our experienced counselors prioritize safety while creating an environment for personal growth, teamwork, and an appreciation for nature. Join us for a summer of adventure, growth, and unforgettable memories!
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to explore the wonders of the great outdoors, regardless of their experience level or equipment. That's why when campers arrive, we provide them with a full set of personal gear, including a water bottle, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack, and other essentials. Plus, we have group gear such as cookware and tents, so campers don't need to worry about a thing. All they need to bring is their personal clothing and a positive attitude!
LEAVE NO TRACE
We teach participants essential backcountry skills such as setting up camp, cooking, personal hygiene, and travelling. This not only helps them to connect with the environment but also instills a sense of self-sufficiency. We also educate them about the 7 Principles of LNT and encourage them to practice them during their outings: plan ahead and prepare, camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impact, respect wildlife, and be considerate of other visitors.
