The Wilderness Adventure Story

The Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing is a place that tells a story of passion and love for life and nature. Retired Marine Colonel Gene Nervo and his family founded this special retreat in 1990 as a backpacking camp for kids and teens. Thirty Five years later, Wilderness Adventure has evolved into a year-round outdoor destination that leaves everyone in awe and wonder!

If you’re looking for a great place for private groups, Wilderness Adventure steps up to the challenge. Our venue is perfect for family reunions, group retreats, team-building activities, and other special occasions.

Fun Activities for Everyone

When was the last time you went kayaking, canoeing, or tubing? Or when you played disc golf or sand volleyball? There’s no need to choose between these activities; at Wilderness Adventure, you can do them all and more.

We also have a variety of hiking and biking trails for different levels of difficulty. If you’re up for even more thrilling adventures, try our high and low ropes, 50-foot climbing wall, and giant swing!

Time With Nature

Nature is the best teacher, and we bring you right to its doorstep. We are in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia, surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and serene lakes.

Just imagine the feeling of waking up to soothing sounds, breathing in fresh air, and gazing at clear night skies full of stars! You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Accommodation Options

When a day tour just won’t cut it for your group, we have comfortable accommodation options. You can make the Old Homestead your home if you’re a group of six or the Sneaky Cabin if you’re a group of eight.  Our Main Lodge and Sly Lodge offer accommodations for larger groups.

If you prefer camping like real adventurers, we have campsites with fire pits, picnic tables, and more. However you want to spend your nights, Wilderness Adventures will make it happen.

Ah, weddings — the loveliest celebrations of all. It can be anything from a simple ceremony to an all-out party, and we’re here to help you make your dream wedding come true. Wilderness Adventure is a great place for weddings for many reasons. 

Big Lodge and Cabins

If the city is too crowded and noisy for your special day, we have big lodges and cabins to keep you and your loved ones comfortable. Our Main Lodge can house up to 56 people, while the Sly Lodge can accommodate up to 29 guests.

What better way to mark your union than with your closest family and friends in one place? And if your guest list is a bit longer, we have cozy cabins that welcome six to eight more guests.

Beautiful Outdoor Venues

Now, for the best part — our outdoor venues! You can say, “I do,” with the breathtaking pond as your backdrop, or exchange vows in a secluded meadow surrounded by towering trees. Whichever spot you choose, we’ll make sure it’s perfect for your special moment.

Don’t worry about the weather; we can always set up tents and marquees to keep you and your guests sheltered. Mother Nature will witness your love story, rain or shine!
